CELEBRATE!

Posted by exModia Staff | June 26, 2011 | Category: , , , , ,

As you might imagine, we are overjoyed with the passage of the equal marriage law in our home state of New York.

We celebrate as always with our traditional affirmation of Gay pride, Gloria Gaynor's I Am What I Am and with one wish that the day will dawn when the brotherhood of man will be made manifest for all our LGBT brothers and sisters all over the world and for all humanity.

Enjoy!

John Lennon: October 9, 1940 - December 8, 1980

Posted by exModia Staff | December 8, 2010 | Category: ,

Imagine there's no Heaven
It's easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people
Living for today

Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace

You may say that I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will be as one

Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world

You may say that I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will live as one

We remember John,

Miss Lucille, She's Keepin' It Real

Posted by exModia Staff | September 8, 2010 | Category: , , , , ,

We get high from connecting dots around here. No bitches, not THOSE kinds of dots, but the ones that keep us constantly enlightened and reminded of how connected we are within our extended LGBT family.

That connection was evident when we visited Two Sheps That Pass...'s website. They manage Ariel Aparicio and Khalid Rivera. They are also involved with Ari Gold, RuPaul, our house music High Priestess, Junior Vasquez (you guys already know we worship) and, of all people, Salif Keita. Keita was an addiction in college for some of us. Now we are going to share another addiction, Ariel Aparicio's Lucille.

We won't repeat what has been mentioned before, that we started out as a rock music blog devoted to all things Radiohead. But we will repeat part of a conversation we had on Twitter where we frankly admitted that it would be impossible for us to appreciate any kind of music if we didn't fall in love with rock music first.

Ariel's new song takes us back to those days when we were first discovering music. Remember that euphoria you felt when you discovered that sound that made your day? It was your groove, your THING. Well, Ariel's thing is very reminiscent of the New York Dolls and Adam and The Ants we learned to love in our diaper days.

Fragments of Lookin' For A Kiss, sublime shades of Personality Crisis, and even sparkles of Stand & Deliver shine as bright as cellophane in Lucille. Khalid Rivera makes an appearance as an impassioned black-lipsticked seductress on backing vocals. But it's Ariel's incessant, throbbing vocals that remind us that those gleefully joyous days of music self-discovery are definitely not over.

And Miss Lucille? Well, she looks Pretty In Pink.

Enjoy!

We want to thank Pam Payano from Two Sheps That Pass... for the personal touch. Always a fabulous experience with those guys!

Alegria! Welcome Back!

Posted by exModia Staff | September 5, 2010 | Category: , , , , , ,

Some of you who have followed us for the past three or so years will recognize a certain similarity in the new layout. (Wow!, it's been THAT long?) It's the color scheme. It's similar to one we used several years ago.

What you may (or may not) realize yet is that the individual pages created briefly after our return are gone. Those features are all integrated within this one main page.

Right above the posts section you will notice the Dabber plugin. That's the video section. Simply click on a tile and that video will fill the section and begin to play. We've thrown in an eclectic mix of videos but they are all united under one central theme. They are all either by or geared toward Gays. We've even thrown in Bulgarian-Roma (Bulgarian gypsy) out Gay artist and activist, Aziz. We have featured Aziz because we strongly believe that people like him who fight for continued acceptance and recognition of LGBT people and their rights deserve to be recognized. At the very least they deserve to be exposed to a wider audience.

Cyber tells us that certain features aren't completely set up. They are minor things that mainly affect streaming if you are using Internet Explorer. We bent over backwards to accommodate I.E. users and "the new site performs better on I.E. to a large degree than on other browsers".

We would still love for loading time to be faster and for the drain on computer resources to be smaller. That is something that will come in the next few days (are you listening Raffaele?).

In the meantime we are allowing Tony Moran & Deep Influence's Cafe Con Alegria (12inch Mix) to stream automatically as a way of celebrating our return to doing what we love: bringing you some of the best deejays and the Gayest remixes on the planet.

Enjoy!

Ranny & Bryan's Club Monster

We knew it was coming. But we weren't really ready for this. After all, it seemed like an eternity since the template was chosen. Then the inevitable summer laziness hit and we floated around doing the typical summer things.

In short, while we got a peek at the design as it was fixed and developed, we thought this day was still at least a few weeks away. Yet here we are again, and here is DJ Ranny again, heading up what we are calling the Top Three, our three top three picks of the month. And he does it with the powerful assist from DJ Bryan Reyes on their respank of GaGa's Monster.

You will notice that our posts player will disappear. It is being replaced with the new jukebox. Featured songs will appear there for a limited time and will be updated as the posts are updated. We are sorry if you have grown used to constantly available and playable songs on exModia, but the demands on bandwidth and the time that it takes to prepare a post just drove us crazy.

About as crazy as we are for Monster (Ranny and Bryan Reyes Club Mix)!

Enjoy!

I do have one question Cyber. Why did you create post templates ahead of time for the first three posts of the new site?

No Gettin Over Ranlusy

Our favorite Brazilian producer, DJ Eduardo "Louis Mor" Ranlusy, continues on his relentless mission to progressively move and merge progressive house, tribal, and Dutch house together with glorious results.

His latest Ranlusy Reconstruction Mix, Ranlusy's version of the David Guetta & Chris Willis monster hit Gettin' Over You (featuring Fergie & those laughing fools, LMFAO), shows the progression that we have been observing and encouraging over the past several years.

Eduardo Ranlusy is becoming a gloriously masterful producer and this masterful remix proves it.

After returning from vacation, I also learned that Bitch Slapper, Rain, FashionQueen, (whatever) arranged for Gay pop & dance music vocalist, producer, and promoter Ryan Skyy to be produced and remixed by Ranlusy in Brazil and Latin America. We are wetting ourselves with anticipation.

Werk it out, bitch!

Michael Hetrick's Milkshake Is Better Than Yours

This was supposed to be Nena's post. Nena must be out shaking boys for milk. No worries. I'm here to set this post up and introduce you to Michael Hetrick, who went from exModia fan to exModia contributor via Facebook and with good reason.

Michael is from a similar musical pedigree as the rest of us here. We are devoted fans of Junior Vasquez and unabashed lovers of Gay, New York City house music. But that's not the reason why we are featuring him on exModia.

The reason is...oh what the hell, just download his tribal spank of Kelis' Milkshake and hear for yourself. You will agree, his Milkshake (Turn It Up Mixshow Edit) is better than yours.

Enjoy!
